MDC is seeking a confident Business Development Manager to engage with IVD company and win projects for our consultants with the aim of advancing, innovative, new diagnostics.  This position works closely with our Regulatory, Quality, and CRO services teams to ensure we win new contracts and deliver the best-in-class services for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Build rapport and solid relationships with existing IVD clients to ensure we continue to be their partner of choice for additional services or projects.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of our offerings and identify profitable opportunities.
  • Influence Marketing and Business Development strategy by conducting and presenting market research and identifying areas or markets to expand in.
  • Develop new client leads and strategic partnerships to generate new business.
  • Assess potential government projects and contracts and assist in preparing documentation for requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Work with project leads to ensure effective project kick-offs upon contract signing.
  • Develop business development and marketing plans aligned with MDC strategy.
  • Provide input and BD direction to MDC strategy and long-range plans (LRPs).
  • Plan and oversee new marketing initiatives.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events.
  • Develop quotes and proposals for clients.
  • Research emerging trends and recommend new client offerings.
  • Develop forecasts and projections and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Select CRM and/or automation software that help streamline the business development process and communication between the teams.
  • Hire additional BD and marketing personnel as business expands.
  • Training personnel and helping team members develop their skills.
  • Perform other duties as company expands and the needs of the organization change

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required; biology, chemistry, clinical or science related discipline preferred

Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience selling consulting and/or clinical services within medical industry.
  • Experience in vitro diagnostics, laboratory medicine, or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Experience in sales, business development or proposal generation, preferably in a scientific field or clinical research preferred.
  • Ability to interpret request for proposals, understand and manage proposal development for assigned clients Understanding of costing or pricing models and strategies, including gross margins.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to engage and influence cross-functional team members.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, monitor and communicate new trends in the medical in vitro diagnostic industry.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand MDC’s approach and culture and sell value of our services.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while working independently.
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentations skills, and project management capabilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Ppt, Excel), Smartsheets, Zoom and CRM business supporting applications • Experience with implementing and utilizing CRM systems.

Travel

Up to 30% Travel including local, within U.S and outside of the US. Travel may include:

  • Client sites (North America, Europe, Asia)
  • Medical and Scientific conferences
  • Company offsite meetings
  • Vendor meetings
  • COVID 19 pre-cautions are on-going and may impact travel schedules

Job Location

Position can be located in-office, hybrid or remote; New England location for remote candidate preferred but not required. Expected scheduled time in corporate office for team and corporate meetings as requested.
